Difference in Candidates

As a board candidate, I bring an image and experience different than any other candidate or current board member. My three decades of federal law enforcement investigative experience, state insurance law enforcement and regulatory and compliance enforcement conveys a seriousness of action that is needed today more than ever. Further my knowledge and executive experience in multiple state agencies organizations as well as my legal training gives me tools needed to function on the board as an overseer of the agency’s operation.

My work experience has developed my ability to think critically. My education has provided the knowledge to understand issues in law and government. In my various roles I have honed the skill to listen and communicate. I possess a unique background that will complement and add to that of the existing CalPERS Board of Administration.

The employment agreement and state oath

As both a federal law enforcement officer and state peace officer and executive of the DOI, criminal investigative branch, I have a lived the demands of the enforcement job. I took an oath as part of my specific employment terms. Those terms were an agreement that allowed me to focus on the job at hand. All public employees experienced this agreement. Our retirements enhanced our ability to do our jobs. It is part of the agreement. The state must perform what it promised. CalPERS must adequately maintain the system and its funding.
